What Is a 0-10V Lighting Controller?

A 0-10V controller outputs an analog voltage signal between 0 and 10 VDC to the dim input of a compatible LED driver, adjusting light output proportionally. At 10V the driver runs at full output; at 0V it dims to its minimum level. Products in this category add Casambi Bluetooth mesh to this control signal, enabling wireless dimming without dedicated control wiring.

The 0-10V protocol is one of the most widely used dimming interfaces in commercial lighting, compatible with the majority of LED drivers available in Vietnam and internationally.

How Does a 0-10V System Work?

The control signal runs on a separate pair of low-voltage wires alongside the driver's mains input. The controller sinks current from the driver's 0-10V output (typically 7 mA max), pulling the voltage down to set the target dim level. No external power supply is needed for the signal itself.

With Casambi integration, the CBU module receives commands wirelessly from the Casambi app or network and translates them into the corresponding 0-10V analog signal in real time.

0-10V vs. DALI

  • 0-10V: Analog, simple wiring, lower cost, compatible with most standard drivers. No individual addressing, no fault feedback.

  • DALI: Digital, individually addressed, bi-directional status feedback, fault detection. Preferred for larger installations (20+ luminaires) requiring maintenance visibility.

For most commercial projects under 20 luminaires, or where drivers already have 0-10V interfaces, 0-10V with Casambi delivers equivalent user experience at lower system cost.

Key Features of Casambi 0-10V Controllers

  • Tunable White support: Two independent 0-10V channels allow separate control of dim level and color temperature on dual-channel drivers.

  • Relay output: CH2 can be configured as a 12 VDC relay output to cut mains power to drivers that do not dim to zero.

  • Mesh repeater: Each module extends the Casambi network range, no hub required.

  • Universal input: 100-240 VAC, compatible with Vietnamese electrical standards.

  • BMS integration: Via Casambi Gateway (BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP) when required.

Choosing the Right Product

  • Single 0-10V driver or Tunable White 2-channel: CBU-A2D, 2 independent channels, relay option on CH2.

  • Mixed 0-10V and DALI drivers in the same project: CBU-A2D supports both protocols, configurable per fixture profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

A 0-10V controller outputs an analog voltage signal (0 to 10 VDC) to the dim input of a compatible LED driver, adjusting light output proportionally. Products in this category integrate Casambi Bluetooth for wireless control without additional control wiring.

0-10V is an analog protocol that adjusts dim level only, with no addressing or feedback. DALI is digital, supports individual device addressing, bi-directional communication, and fault detection. 0-10V is simpler and lower cost; DALI is preferred for larger or more complex installations.

Yes. Modules like CBU-A2D support Tunable White via two independent 0-10V channels: one for dim level and one for color temperature, using profiles such as 0-10V TW or 0-10V 2CH Dim Temp NoMix.

No additional power supply is needed for the 0-10V signal itself. The CBU-A2D draws power directly from the 100-240 VAC mains and outputs the 0-10V control signal to the driver.

Yes. Via a Casambi Gateway, the Casambi mesh network including 0-10V controllers can be integrated into a BMS over BACnet/IP or Modbus TCP.
